Go-Ped GTR46R Trail Ripper Gas Powered Full Suspension Off-Road Scooter (Sinister Black)

Product Description

For power, PMW is introducing a new 4 port, 4 HP, high compression, high RPM 41.5cc 2 stroke engine . This purpose designed engine becomes PMW's top of the line performer of its production gas powered scooter line-up. Power delivery is through a single reduction pocket bike style chain system with 78mm automatic centrifugal clutch . Though the aftermarket selection is already great, the stock sprocket ratio was chosen to deliver the best bottom end for this combination. This produces absolutely the highest fun factor in trail riding for this scooter. Chain adjustment uses PMW's patent pending adjustable motor mount system found on many of its other very successful and race proven products. Its Chromoly single tube frame, reinforced aircraft grade 6061-T6 folding handlebar system with Tim Patmont bend bars (like on the TSi) contribute to making the go-ped Trail Ripper 46 a very light weight device. Combined with its truly revolutionary C.I.D.L.I. suspension, it is not only very practical but creates a new way to have a high level of safe off road low cost FUN.

Customer Buzz
I purchased the Trail Ripper about 3 months ago and the name of this product describes it perfectly; although, not in the manner Goped intended. I say this due to the fact that anytime you ride this product on any kind of trail, even a paved one with virtually no hills or hazards, the trail itself will simply rip up this Goped. Over the last few months I have had one problem after another with this device. In fact, I've spent more time repairing it than I have riding it. And unfortunately, I've only ridden it for a total of approximately 8 hours during this 3 month period. And yet, I've had one problem after another with it.

First of all, everything is exposed, wires, cords, tubing which means that you have to be careful when riding the Trail Ripper anywhere other than a paved or dirt surface with no debris (running over twigs can and will cause problems especially if one gets snagged on the throttle cable). For one, the throttle cable, in particular, the wire inside of the cable gets pulled in from time to time which ultimately opens the throttle plate inside the carburetor, which in turn causes the engine to rev up in the same manner as engaging the throttle completely. In order to fix this the wire inside the throttle cable must be pulled out as much as possible in order create as much slack as possible. Performing this task will take at least an hour each time it happens and it does happen frequently. This will also cause the engine to flood and gum up the sparkplug to the point of it needing to be either cleaned or replaced. The chain will also come loose from time to time, even if there isn't very much slack at all. This problem is due to the fact that the wheel sprocket is uneven which will cause more slack in the chain when the wheel is rotated at some points more than others. This can be dangerous because the chain will get caught on the braking system and all of a sudden the Goped will come to very rapid stop which may cause you to fall, or if really unlucky, fly off.

My Goped is currently out of commission yet again, awaiting further repairs. This time I believe it is the slip clutch. While I was riding it yesterday I hit a very small pothole in the road, and all of a sudden the engine dies and the rear tire locks up. I managed to start up my Trail Ripper after several attempts and it made a very loud metal on metal scraping sound. I believe it's a problem with the slip clutch, and I, no doubt, will have to spend a few hours working on it in order to fix it. The slip clutch is not easy to get to; if it were I would probably be able to fix it in less than an hour, but I will probably have to dismantle most of the Goped in order to get to it. Please keep in mind I do not ride my Goped in an aggressive manner, nor do I ride it on rough terrain, and I do keep it well maintained. Again, I have only had my Trail Ripper for a little over 3 months (warranty is only 3 months with good reason) and have barely driven it at all. I have spent considerably more time repairing it than I have riding it and it has got to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made in my life. I can honestly say that I will never buy another product from GoPed.
